God’s Word is not silenced in Afghanistan
October 25, 2024
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. -Romans 1:16
Christians in Afghanistan must keep their faith hidden, living in constant fear of discovery. If an Afghan’s faith is uncovered, it could mean death or imprisonment, often accompanied by torture to extract information about others. The Taliban deny the presence of Christians in the country, but stories like Abdul’s* reveal the truth:
“I am from Kabul. I was born in a traditional Muslim family. I prayed many times a day and followed the discipline of my parents. One day my brother shared your teaching on WhatsApp. This was the first time I heard about Jesus. At first, I was very confused, but after some time, God saved me and my siblings also. I have given my life to Him and want to serve Him. When I go anywhere or meet anyone, I share the gospel with them. Please pray for me.”
Despite the danger, Abdul is boldly sharing his faith, trusting in the power of the gospel to change lives just as it did for him. Together let’s thank God that His Word cannot be silenced, even in the most oppressive environments.
Heavenly Father, we lift up Abdul and all believers who face persecution for their faith. Thank You for the courage You have given them to share the message of Jesus despite the risk. Protect them, their families, and all who choose to follow You. May Your Spirit continue to work powerfully in their hearts, giving them strength and wisdom as they walk with You. We ask that You cover them with Your grace and let their lives be a testimony to Your power and love, so that many more come to know You. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen.
On Monday our prayer travels take us to the Caribbean, we’ll meet you in Guadeloupe.
