Pray Hebrews 12:2 over South Sudan
October 17, 2024
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. -Hebrews 12:2
South Sudan has been at the center of Africa’s largest refugee crisis for over a decade. Since 2013, conflict and violence have displaced over four million South Sudanese from their homes. More than 2.2 million have sought refuge in other countries, while another 2.2 million remain internally displaced. The people of South Sudan are enduring unimaginable hardships—hunger, fear, and profound suffering. This crisis reveals a staggering need for humanitarian aid, comfort, and, most importantly, prayer.
Yet amidst this crisis, God’s Word and His people are bringing hope. We rejoice in this letter from a fellow Bible Bus passenger:
“I am a South Sudanese pastor who listens to the program. In God’s Word, I find the encouragement and refreshment I need to keep teaching others. I am empowered to continue to press forward no matter how many things try to take my eyes off Him. If He endured the cross, then I too can continue.”
Let’s pray for God’s Word as it reaches South Sudan and lift up this listener and all brothers and sisters providing spiritual nourishment and comfort to those in need.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word that brings comfort when nothing else can. We pray for the hungry, scared, hurt, and displaced in South Sudan. Bring relief to those suffering and surround them with Your peace, provision, and protection.
We are grateful for this pastor and all who remain steadfast despite the challenges. As he shares Your love, empower him and others like him to be a source of hope and encouragement to their communities.
Remind us all that just as Your Son endured the cross for the joy set before Him, we too can find the strength to endure our own trials. Keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, drawing from His grace and guidance as we navigate our struggles. In Jesus’ name, amen.
God is answering our prayer in Uganda. Join us tomorrow as we celebrate.
