Prayer prompts for Azerbaijan

Located between Russia, Iran, and Armenia, Azerbaijan is a popular tourist destination. However, as we look beyond the luxury hotels and modern art museums, we find that more than 40% of Azeri citizens live in poverty. We also see that Christians are often harassed by law enforcement, threatened by heavy fines, and forced to avoid gathering because of strict regulations.
Welcome, World Prayer Team. Today we travel through the three largest cities—Baku, where the majority of Christians live, Sumgait, and Ganja—praying for God’s Word to take root. As you come before the Lord, focus on these requests:
- Pray for protection for those who provide aid to and quietly share the gospel with the poor.
- Pray His Word finds favor among government officials who seek to persecute Christians.
- Pray that our brothers and sisters remain steadfast despite the opposition they face each day.
