Risking it all in Iraq
August 14, 2024
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. -Ephesians 3:20-21
As we saw yesterday, God is calling people in the Middle East by name, and it’s a pleasure and privilege to witness the outcomes.
Welcome, World Prayer Team. Our destination is Iraq, where more than 95% of people are Muslim and an astonishing 98% have never heard the gospel. In addition, those who do choose to follow Jesus face a massive increase in persecution, kidnappings, property destruction, rape, and murder. The Islamic State has furthered these atrocities in their attempt at “cleansing” the nation of all Christians, religious minorities, and even Shia Muslims. Most Christians have fled. In fact, many fear Christianity will be removed from Iraq permanently.
While it may feel overwhelming, it isn’t hopeless. God is at work, and He won’t be stopped. Be encouraged by this email we recently received by a Bible Bus passenger named Enes:
“Thank you that whenever I listen to your program, I feel closer to understanding the Lord. Therefore, my faith is growing. Please pray for me, and I pray that God blesses You as you courageously share His Word.”
Isn’t Enes amazing? Today pray for her and all those who risk everything to hear God’s Word and follow Him. We may never know the dangers they face, but we do know the God who can protect and provide for them. Ask Him to work on their behalf today.
There’s more to pray about tomorrow in the Middle East as our team travels to the United Arab Emirates. Please join us.
