Have troubled relationships? Jesus did too …
August 12, 2024
“My mother and sisters have been unkind and they have hurt me a lot. I’m struggling to forgive them.”
That’s what we heard from Mariana in Armenia, and it’s a story we hear a lot from listeners all over the world. Can you relate? For many of us, relationships—whether with family, friends, colleagues, even those in our church—are just plain hard.
But have hope. Even Jesus suffered in His relationships. Family doubted Him, a closer friend betrayed Him, and one friend who He particularly loved, denied Him. Yet through it all Jesus modeled forgiveness and grace.
As we pray for Mariana, and all of us on the Bible Bus who struggle today to forgive someone, here are a few verses that might help:
- Jesus can change your heart. Begin by interceding for those who have hurt you and for your willingness to forgive them. (Matthew 5:44)
- Jesus forgave everyone who asked. Thank God for His example. The Spirit leads us on the same path. (1 Timothy 2:4)
- Jesus’ forgiveness knows no limits. Praise God that He always receives a repentant sinner. Ask Him to help you do the same. (Matthew 18:21-27)*
Repairing broken relationships is difficult. The pain is real, but so is God’s mercy. Cover every conflict with prayer and then let Him work.*
Your prayers are needed for the persecuted. Join us tomorrow in Syria.
