Praying for those in authority
May 13, 2024
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. -1 Timothy 2:1-4
Our World Prayer journey through western Africa begins today in Ghana where we meet with a fellow listener who joins us in his language of Twi. He says:
“I am really enthused about Thru the Bible. This program has been a blessing to me and my community since it has given me much insight into how a leader is supposed to govern his subjects. I am a chief, and I always listen to this program to gain God’s guidance in my leadership role.”
What a great report. As we praise God for this listener, let’s pray for all those in authority in Ghana and our communities and countries, too.
Father, You alone are the Lord of the earth and King of the universe, and You alone can revive and restore our nations. We ask You to give our leaders the wisdom and grace to turn from the ungodly paths they may be following and turn to You. Give them the strength and desire to have integrity and wisdom in all the choices and decisions they make. We pray he or she act in righteousness and with impartiality and integrity as they work for the benefit of all people, and to glorify You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
We’re praying James 4:7-10 in Nigeria tomorrow. Join us as we’re reminded of the importance of repentance.
