God takes generosity to a new level
May 01, 2024
Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens;Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep; O Lord, You preserve man and beast. How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, and You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures. -Psalm 36:5-8
Welcome, World Prayer Team. Our weeklong prayer trek through eastern Asia begins in Taiwan where many travelers use the words hospitable and generous to describe both the people and the land.
In this hotly disputed country, over 90% of Taiwanese follow some combination of Buddhism, Confucianism, Daoism, and traditional religions that include paying offerings to ghosts and seeking advice from the spirit world. Taiwanese Christians are a small minority, and trained pastors are sorely needed—particularly for rural congregations.
Today as God’s Word goes out in Mandarin, pray for those who hear it. Ask God to open their eyes to the meaning of true generosity—the heart of the gospel. May they come to know of Jesus’ sacrifice and believe the truth of God’s love.
What keeps you from spending time with God? A listener in China answers that question tomorrow on World Prayer Today.
