Five ways to pray for Turkmenistan
March 22, 2024
Islam is part of the Turkmen national identity. Most people practice folk Islam, trust in amulets, and visit holy places seeking answers to their prayers. Christians are few and those who are identified face persecution not only by the government, but also by their families.
Today as we gather on our knees, here are five specific ways to pray for Turkmenistan:
- Open doors (Colossians 4:2-3): Pray that God’s Word will find favor and can be shared openly and freely. Pray those who were once resistant find themselves open and receptive to the gospel.
- Boldness (Ephesians 6:19): Pray believers in Turkmenistan find the right moments and words to share their faith with those around them.
- Protection (2 Thessalonians 3:2): Fear of opposition and retribution is real for believers in Turkmenistan. Pray God keeps them safe and changes the hearts of those who intend evil towards His children.
- Encouragement (Philippians 4:6-7): Ask God to use His Word to refresh and relieve the worries of His people. In Him may they find hope to keep persevering in faith.
- Spiritual maturity (Colossians 1:9-10): While God’s church in Turkmenistan is small, it is growing. Ask Him to grow our brothers and sisters in wisdom and knowledge of His Word. Pray they stand firm against opposition, laying the foundation for future generations of believers.
On Monday we begin the countdown to Resurrection Sunday. Let’s rejoice in salvation stories and give glory to God for the greatest gift man has ever known.
