Faith: A family affair
February 12, 2024
If you grew up in a Christian family, what’s your earliest memory of your parents’ faith? Did they take you to church regularly? Did you see them praying with and for others? Did they cling to Jesus in difficult times?
Victor in Spain says he and his wife are intentionally building a family of faith, and THRU the BIBLE is part of that. Here’s his story:
“My wife and I love the Lord. We pray our children will, too. The value of God’s Word is high on our list of things we want to pass on. We study it together and listen to your program while we do housework. Often, we stop and talk. The children know if they have a good question, we will put work aside and discuss it. Sometimes we laugh because we know they do it to get out of the work, but mostly it’s because they want to learn. We are grateful for the valuable lessons you provide. Please pray our children may grow and thrive in their love for the Lord.”
That’s a great request. As we bring Victor’s family before the Lord, pray also for the children and grandchildren of all those on the Bible Bus. May they too become men and women of character, seeking after God’s heart in all things and believing in His name for salvation..
Need some help in creating a legacy of faith in your family? Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- Repetition=success. Romans 10:17 tells us faith comes by hearing the Word of God. So, share God’s Word early and often.
- Make it fun. Games, singing, memorization challenges, snacks, walks, crafts, outings—do whatever you can to make learning the Bible, praying, and following the Lord a gift and a blessing.
- Praise Him a lot (then praise Him some more). Deuteronomy 6:7-9 instructs us to talk about God’s goodness in all we do. Don’t let a day go by without sharing your gratitude and helping your children express their thanks as well.
- Pray together. Model prayer to your children and teach them how to pray on their own. Teach them to easily and naturally talk to God about their joys and sorrows.
