Waking up and walking wisely
November 14, 2023
“Wake up! Walk wisely!” That’s the directive we hear today from Dr. McGee as we hop aboard the Bible Bus for our study in Ephesians 5. Rik in the United States shares how God’s Word helped him do both of those things in his life:
“As a young man I was conscious of God, but I did not really know Him. I created an image of Him that was acceptable to my lifestyle and my choices. So, I lusted after women, lied when it suited me, and almost lost my family and marriage.
“When my wife found Jesus, she gave me the grace to observe and learn through the life she began to live in Christ. I was very resistant but became more and more curious to understand what was happening with her. As I commuted to work, I began to listen to Christian radio. Dr. McGee’s teaching became water in the desert for me.
“I finally understood sin, that I was a slave to it, and that I was on my way to hell. I didn’t want to stay on that road. I became a believer in Jesus Christ and got on the Bible Bus. Just as God forgave me, my wife did too. Together we have raised two daughters that have also accepted Christ. They have each given us a grandchild (one more on the way) and will train them up in the way they should go. I have been blessed beyond anything I deserve.”
Today let’s thank God for the change He brought to Rik’s life and our own. We’ll use Ephesians 5:8 to get started.
Father, thank You for bringing us out of the darkness and into the light. As we study Your Word, may Your Spirit guide us to walk as Your children, taking in and giving out all that is good and right and true. We long to be living proof of all that pleases You, God. In the precious name of Jesus, amen.
Good news! We have a new sister in Cabo Verde. Hear more tomorrow as our journey of praise takes us to Africa.
