When God says “no”
June 13, 2023
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. -2 Corinthians 12:9
When God says no to a specific request, it can be hard to hear. The Apostle Paul knew this too well. In 2 Corinthians 12, he said he asked God to heal him three times, but God had other plans. Instead of feeling defeated, Paul began focusing on the many gifts he’d been given. In his weakness he let God take over. It’s an experience Glenda in Fair Oaks, California can relate to. Here’s her story:
“My husband and I are in our sixth year and second trip on the Bible Bus. Several years ago, his business partner introduced him to THRU the BIBLE on a business trip. When he arrived home, he wanted me to listen. My eyes lit up when I heard that familiar voice of Dr. McGee. I had listened to him on my daily commute to work in my early twenties. I will be 63 next month, as time flies by. I was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis ten years ago, and two years ago my spinal disc began to crumble, causing my vertebrae to collapse.
“With this combination, my mobility is fragile. Enter the World Pray Team to my rescue. It has opened my eyes and my heart to people around the world that have either never heard or are physically threatened by listening to the Word of God. This has given me a way to witness and support others in prayer. After I read the daily email, I type out the prayer that the Holy Spirit guides me in. I combine that to the daily email and text it out to friends, family, and business associates and post it on my Instagram page.
“Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to minister and be ministered by the World Prayer Team. We also send in a monthly support. We have decided it should be allocated to the Bible Bus’s daily window washing so that everyone riding can clearly see what God knows each individual window needs to make clear to that particular rider. God bless each person keeping this Bible Bus on the road through leadership, partnership, volunteerism, financial support, and prayer. Keep praising Jesus, who finds a way where there seems to be no way.”
What great encouragement. Let’s pray that for our fellow World Prayer Team members and Bible Bus passengers today. May we keep praising Jesus, who finds a way when there doesn’t seem to be a way. In our weakness, may His strengths be glorified and His name be praised.
